WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is designed to develop a variety of key skills required to be a successful music technician. This course is designed for those who have a keen interest in music production and technical production. The course helps to develop many workplace skills such as delegation, collaboration, organisation, time management and risk management.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
In order to be successful in this course, students must have a good knowledge of recording techniques, live sound and music technology software. A BTEC First in Music or Music Technology is desirable but not essential.

WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?
Successful completion of this course will gain students a BTEC National Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music Technology equivalent to one A Level. This will only take one option block.
WHERE WILL THIS LEAD?
The BTEC Level 3 course is excellent preparation for Higher Education courses in Music Technology. Students could go on to study a full Music Technology Degree or continue to work through the BTEC Level 4 and 5 Diploma on Music Technology courses. The course is designed to develop life skills that are appropriate for all types of workplace.
METHODS OF ASSESSMENT
All units of this course are assessed through portfolio work which is moderated by teachers. Students’ work will be subject to external moderation by the exam board Edexcel. The unit required for external moderation is subject to change at the start of every new academic year.
Four GCSEs A* to C. BTEC First Award - Music or Music Technology is desirable but not essential. Applicants may be asked to attend an informal interview with the Music Department Team Leader, where they might discuss previous experience with Music Technology.
